I extend a very warm welcome to all new students and members. Welcome back to last year’s students who have enrolled into our
2010 classes and to those people who have renewed their subscriptions to the Circolo.
We promise you another splendid year enjoying our Italian programme and we hope you will come along to our classes and
socials where you will experience a taste of Italian culture.
Our senior students in Pre-Intermediate 1, Pre-Intermediate 2, Intermediate, Post Intermediate and Advanced levels will be
tutored by Barbara Pezzotti. We welcome Davide Manenti who will be the new Relief Tutor for the senior classes.
Federica Balducci will tutor our Beginners 1 and 2 students. For the past 18 months Federica has been the Relief tutor for the senior classes.
Eloisa Ascoli (tutor to 2009 Beginners 1 and 2 students) has resigned from the Circolo as she will be studying at Victoria
University this year and we wish her all the best for the future. MARCH SOCIALAt 7.30pm on Thursday 4 March, Lucinda Blackley, a Team Leader from Te Papa Museum will give us a presentation. Lucinda will share with us inside information on all aspects of the development of the exciting exhibition A Day in Pompeii. The PowerPoint presentation will contain images of the various stages of the installation and also of the completed exhibition. Don’t miss this chance to learn more about what has gone on behind the scenes prior to the opening and we will discover that there is more to staging an exhibition than meets the eye!A $4.00 cover charge towards supper will apply. APRIL SOCIALAt 7.30pm on Thursday 1 April there will be a presentation by Don McLean of Italian Villa Holidays. Don will talk about Independent Travel in Italy and his presentation will be in the same style as his very popular and well-received evenings held for the Circolo in previous years. The material and visuals will be new and we look forward to being taken on a virtual armchair tour around Italy.ITALIAN FILMSBecause of Copyright regulations, reluctantly, the members of the Circolo Committee have decided to discontinue the monthly showing of Italian movies at Club Garibaldi. A big thank you to Circolo and Club Garibaldi movie fans for your past patronage – it was very much appreciated.CIRCOLO MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONSA reminder that Circolo membership subscriptions for those members who are not language students are due by 31 March 2010. Fees are: Single $30.00, Couples $50.00 (social membership only), Superannuitants and Students (under 18 years) $20.00. Car parks are available to Circolo members during dedicated Circolo activity evenings after 5:30pm only; i.e. class nights, and the first and third Thursdays.
At other times the parks are either let to private clients or are for the use of Club Garibaldi members only. The one car park
with the "Club Garibaldi" sign on it is only for Club Garibaldi use at all times. The parks on Tory street are not to be used.
If anyone parks illegally they run the risk of having their car towed away.
Our AGM was held on Thursday 12 November in our Clubrooms. The 2009/2010 Committee members are: President: Elizabeth

Club Garibaldi has a Tombola (Housie) evening on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The next dates are: Tue Feb 23 & Mar 23 with a 7:30pm start.
Tombola is a lot of fun and you get the chance to win a few dollars and have an enjoyable evening together with members of the
Italian Community. Looking forward to seeing you there!! They have a
