On 2 October our celebration evening for Cav. Jack Ball couldn’t have gone better. The weather was perfect and we had a good turnout. It was so nice to
see some of the students from Jack’s first class and also many others from subsequent years at the function and it was like a Circolo reunion!! We
showed a selection of photos that had been taken of Jack at various important times in his life with the Circolo – some of them caused laughter when we
recognized ourselves during memorable moments. Thanks for everything Jack – you have given us wonderful memories and you instilled in us the
passion for the language and culture of Italy.
In our November newsletter we hope to bring you details of next years Circolo Language courses. Plans have already commenced – the Circolo never sleeps!!
CLASSES CLOSING NIGHTAt 6.30pm on Wednesday 29 October we will hold the Classes Closing Ceremony at our Clubrooms. All students (including Saturday students) who have regularly attended classes will be presented with Certificates of Attendance.Students are requested to bring along some food and something to drink for a shared dinner after the formalities. Do not bring food that needs heating. After the Certificates are handed out we will be treated to the rendition of two popular Italian songs sung by David Skinner and Paul Kitteridge. Everyone is invited to join in – we want you to sing for your supper!! This function is for students and invited guests only.
Car parks are available to Circolo members during dedicated Circolo activity evenings after 5:30pm only; i.e. class nights, and the first and third Thursdays.
At other times the parks are either let to private clients or are for the use of Club Garibaldi members only. The one car park
with the "Club Garibaldi" sign on it is only for Club Garibaldi use at all times. The parks on Tory street are not to be used.
If anyone parks illegally they run the risk of having their car towed away.
At 7pm on Thursday 20 November the film The Goldfinch and the Cat will be shown. Another Montalbano treat!!
The 13th Italian Film Festival commences on 15 October and runs through until 29 October 2008. For more information (after 1

We were saddened to hear of the passing on 14 October of our longest-term Circolo member, Maria Stella Criscillo. Throughout their lives Stella and her
late husband, Vincenzo, were strong supporters of the Circolo and in recent times in spite of her advancing years we know Stella liked to keep up-to-date
with our activities. CLUB GARIBALDI TOMBOLA
Club Garibaldi has a Tombola (Housie) evening on the fourth Tuesday of each month, with a 7:30pm start.
Tombola is a lot of fun and you get the chance to win a few dollars and have an enjoyable evening together with members of the
Italian Community. Looking forward to seeing you there!! They have a
shared supper and a small donation of finger food will be appreciated. IMPORTANT DATES
